The tria was arranged on an optical network connection between Almaty and Taldykurgan in Kazakhstan. The existing fiber optic cable network is using Dense wavelength division multiplexing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The field trial conducted in Kazakhstan used Alcatel Lucent 1626 Light Manager that is enhanced with 100G coherent technology through the 1830 Photonic Service Switch. Alcatel Lucent also demonstrated how Kazakh telecom can reduce operation and maintenance cost of optical communication and also reduce power consumption. Overall, with an upgraded 100G, telecom operators can expect cost reduction too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kazakh Telecom is Kazakhstan’s major telecom operator.
